Salamanca

Salamanca Market is the place to be if your are visiting Hobart on a Saturday. Surrounded by historic sandstone buildings, the market has over three hundred craft stalls, brilliant young buskers and some of the best coffee shops in Tasmania. The quality of the woodwork for sale was of the highest order, Huon and King Billy pine, Sassafras and Myrtle, carefully shaped into all manner of things, even a boat.
The gold medal for the most interesting raffle prize ever, must go to Peregrine Community School. How could anyone resist buying a couple of chances to win a furniture quality Huon Pine sailing dinghy.  Built to the finest level by Denman Marine, the ten foot centre boarder comes complete with sailing rig on a new trailer. I can't imagine I could ever risk scratching this delicate artwork by using it, but it would make a superb conversation piece in my living room
